Plan Joran Restaurant
Chamonix
The Plan Joran restaurant is at 1936m altitude in the midst of the Grands Montets ski area in the Chamonix Valley.
The restaurant is a large chalet-style building and is easy to find. If you take the Plan Joran chair lift up to the main skiing area the restaurant is 150m on your right as you get off the chair lift and between the Tabe and Plan Rojan lifts, so getting back to the top of the pistes after your lunch stop is easy too.
Plan Joran restaurant is owned by SERAC, the main mountain restaurant company in the Chamonix Valley, so don't expect much more than functional food in the self-service and takeway parts of the restaurant.
The main restaurant is small and really quite expensive, but if you're looking for a lazy lunch in the sun this is a better choice than the motorway service station like Lognan canteen.
The table service restaurant seats 47 inside and 70 outside, the self service can accommodate an incredible 233 inside and 330 outside, whilst the small takeaway area can welcome 32 inside and 118 outside on the decking.
A useful tip if you want to save cash is to take a picnic, as you can sit outside at the far end of the chalet and if the weather is bad there is a picnic room (salle hors sac) and there are toilets too.
