We are here by a locals request and I'm so glad we did! The vibe was on point and a relaxing space to have dinner. We enjoyed the mocktails. The food was fantastic. Our favorite was the crab rice balls, so much so we ordered a second round.
We found this restaurant via google maps. We realised that online booking for same day was almost impossible. So we reserved the 2 slots available very late in evening a day later, the application took our redit card as guarantee. However we passed by the restaurant much earlier and saw they had many tables empty nd asked if we could get a table earlier. And we did. The menu options are small sized plates to be shared. We ordered 3 and we were fine. We were tempted by another dish and decided to get a 4th one from the menu. And we were full and couldnt order desserts. The food was creative, unique and pleasing. The desserts didnt seem to be as interesting as the main course and sides unfortunate on the day we visited (they changed the dessert menu periodically, seemed like). The outdoors seating is pleasant, with the view of mountains. The interiors seemed very elegant and cozy. The staff is polite, quick to bring the orders one by one. We liked the overall experience, and this place did standout in Chamonix over other restaurants.
The owner and creator of Mumma has developed a modern tribute to atmosphere, food, staff, and libations that is truly impressive. The crab and jalapeño rice balls were exceptional; a wonderful take on arancini with a distinct Japanese flair. Additionally, the scent of the fire-grilled Lion's Mane was intoxicating, and we quickly realized that ordering just one for the table was not enough. Beyond the menu, the service was impeccable. Our server shared the history of the adolescent restaurant and the mixologist was kind enough to divulge his secret for the perfect Old Fashioned. We highly recommend this gem in Chamonix for its energetic vibe, personable staff, and unbelievable flavors. 5/5
This place is something one has to visit if in Chamonix, don’t miss it out. This might be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every dish was a performance with layered flavor, unique and high quality ingredients. The tartare was excellent, every bite was perfect. Even the edamame, which is something I had many times were superior to anything similar I had before . The portions were very decent for the quality and price. Also service was great for a super busy Friday in France . Don’t forget to taste the pork belly and the cheesecake. Easily a top dining experience in Chamonix and in the area in general . Totally worth visiting Chamonix just to dine in Mumma .
This place was a 9.2 on Beli, so I had to try it out. This might be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, and that means a lot coming from New York. Every dish was an exotic layered flavor performance in my mouth with incredible texture and extremely high quality ingredients. Everything was very unique and unexpected too. Nothing was heavy or muddy; every bite had clarity and punch. At one point I was in the back room trying the special rice which was by far the most insane thing on the menu. Us and 2 other tables reacted out loud to it at the same time and we all bonded over the rest of the dishes and it made for an awesome experience. The rice had was this crispy spiced layer on top that was honestly just pure crack cocaine. I have no idea what it is or how to describe it, but it’s just so different. The moisture levels and texture of the rice were utmost perfection. The Chinese eggplant, also hard to describe but a total flavor trip. Vegetable dumplings with insane chili oil, and all the tartares were unreal. every bite felt like a performance rather than just a dish. I’ve had miso soup and edamame countless times, but here they were the best I’ve had. And the absolute best part of all this is: usually restaurants at this level give tiny portions for absurd prices. Here we spent about $80 each, tried almost the entire menu, and left in a full food coma. Easily a top 3 dining experience of my life.
