Description
From July 1 to 18, 2026, Georges Bizet's 'Carmen' will be performed in Vienna’s only open-air opera arena. This event features 12 performances with international opera stars, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Choir. The open-air stage is designed by Manfred Waba and the event is presented by artistic director and conductor Joji Hattori under Dominik am Zehnhof-Söns’ artistic direction.
The historic Heumarkt transforms into an opera venue that combines historical heritage with contemporary performance. About 100 artists, including emerging talents and established opera names, participate annually, offering a vibrant cultural platform. The nearby listed Vienna Musikverein adds a striking historical backdrop to the event.
