Ski Joering Mont Blanc
Chamonix
Ski joering is an age-old tradition which is becoming increasingly popular as a winter season leisure activity that all the family can enjoy. If you've never heard of ski joering, it is basically using a horse to pull you along the snow and you have your skis on your feet.
Ski Joering Mont Blanc is based in Coupeau, just up from Les Houches train station and offers superb trips along the beautiful forest path from the oeprator's farm house all the way along to Les Bossons. The trip takes between and hour and an hour and a half and the path goes alongside the River Arve.
Ski joering is suitable for anyone from the age of six who can ski in as much as they are comfortable on a drag lift. Ski Joering Mont Blanc provides the skis (which are short so as not to hinder the horse), so all you need to bring are your ski boots.
Once the horse is harnessed up and ready, you position yourself behind the horse who is wearing a frame and you simply hold on to the bar to be pulled along with the horse. If you've never had a go at ski joering and fancy something a little different to hitting the pistes of Chamonix, ski joering makes for an unusual and fun activity.
Ski Joering Mont Blanc offers trips every day (except Wednesday) as long as there is enough snow. Start times are usually 10:00, 11:30, 14:00 and 15:30 and the maximum group size is five. A one to one and half hour tour costs 45€ per person.
