Highlights

  • Visit iconic Golden Circle sites, including two geysers
  • Watch Strokkur erupting hot water up to 30 meters high
  • Stand with one foot in Europe and one foot in America at Þingvellir
  • Relax in geothermal pools at the Whale Fjord hot springs
  • See Iceland's newest geyser and taste Hverabrauð baked with geothermal heat

Description

The tour begins at the Geothermal Park & Bakery in Hveragerði, where the Eilífur Geyser erupts every 15-20 minutes. Walk among bubbling hot springs and enjoy freshly baked geothermal bread called hverabrauð.

Next, visit the Kerið volcanic crater, a 270-meter wide and 55-meter deep volcanic lake with striking red earth walls. You can also explore the lake, nearly 14 meters deep, at the crater’s base.

Continue to Gullfoss waterfall, a two-tier cascade dropping over 30 meters. On sunny days, the waterfall’s mist creates large rainbows around the falls.

At Haukadalur Valley, see the famous Strokkur geyser erupting every 5-10 minutes, reaching heights of 20 to 30 meters. Nearby, the dormant Geysir geothermal area is also worth noting.

Þingvellir National Park is next, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Stand with one foot in each continental plate while experiencing the area's geological and historical significance.

The tour ends at Hvammsvik Hot Spring SPA on the Whale Fjords. This geothermal spa mixes hot water from 1400 meters underground with seawater from the Atlantic Ocean. Pools flow naturally with clean, warm water, providing a rejuvenating soak. Your first drink is included, and towel rental is available for comfort.
