Description

Discover the beauty of Skadar Lake National Park on a scenic boat tour to the medieval Kom Monastery, one of the most remarkable cultural and historical landmarks on the lake. This experience combines breathtaking landscapes, rich history, local traditions, wildlife observation, and moments of complete relaxation in one unforgettable journey. Your adventure begins in the charming fishing village of Virpazar, the gateway to Skadar Lake National Park. As we depart, we cruise through the narrow channels of the Crmnica River, surrounded by lush vegetation, reeds, and beautiful water lily fields. These peaceful waterways provide the perfect introduction to the unique ecosystem of the largest lake in the Balkans. Leaving the river behind, we enter the open waters of Skadar Lake, where spectacular views unfold in every direction. Admire the vast lake landscape, the surrounding mountains, and the untouched nature that makes this national park one of Montenegro’s most treasured destinations. Along the way, observe various bird species and enjoy the tranquility that can only be found far from crowded tourist areas. As we continue our cruise through scenic channels and floating carpets of water lilies, you'll have the opportunity to relax on board, take unforgettable photographs, and enjoy a glass of local wine while surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery on Skadar Lake. Our destination is the historic Kom Monastery, located on a secluded island and accessible only by boat. After arriving, a pleasant 15-minute walk leads to the monastery, offering beautiful views along the way. Built in the 15th century by the Crnojević dynasty, Kom Monastery is one of Montenegro’s most important medieval monuments. Dedicated to the Mother of Christ, it preserves remarkable frescoes, historic architecture, and centuries of spiritual heritage. From the monastery terrace, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Skadar Lake, the surrounding mountains, and the untouched wilderness stretching to the horizon. This viewpoint is considered one of the most beautiful on the lake and offers the perfect opportunity for memorable photographs. After exploring the monastery and enjoying free time for sightseeing, we return to the boat and continue our cruise through the tranquil waters of the lake. During the warmer months, guests can enjoy an optional swimming stop in the clear waters of Skadar Lake, providing a refreshing and unique way to connect with nature. We conclude our journey with a relaxing cruise back through the picturesque channels of the Crmnica River before returning to Virpazar. This tour is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, birdwatchers, and anyone looking to discover the authentic beauty, history, and peaceful atmosphere of Skadar Lake National Park.
