Description
Discover Ķemeri National Park on a refreshing guided walk through the Great Ķemeri Bog. Walk along wooden boardwalks through a pristine raised bog habitat spanning over 6,000 hectares, recognized as a priority European habitat.
The bog offers varied scenery all year, from spring blooms to summer greenery, autumn colors, and winter tranquility. A knowledgeable guide will provide insights about the local environment and culture during the hike.
After the bog walk, continue to the Slokas Lake nature trail to explore wetland ecosystems, including the flooded Black Alder swamp forest, Slokas Lake, Vēršupīte River, and surrounding old pine and spruce forests.
Note that the swamp forest is fully flooded mainly during high water seasons in spring (April and May) and late autumn (September and October). The area remains lush and green from April to October even when not flooded.
