Atlas Mountains Day Hike from Marrakech
This moderate day hike starts near Marrakech, ideal for active travelers seeking mountain views and local culture in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains.
Description
Begin with an early morning pickup from your Marrakech hotel and a 64-kilometer drive to the village of Imlil (1,740m), the starting point of the hike. The route ascends and descends nearly 900 meters, providing panoramic views of the Imlil and Imnane Valleys.
Hike through the Tamatert Valley, passing the Berber villages of Ait Souka and Tamatert, as you reach the Tizi n'Tamatert pass (2,280m). From here, continue through a Moroccan pine forest to the summit of Adrar Talamrout (2,600m).
At the summit, observe the Imenane Valley and the Berber villages of Amskere and Ikkiss below before descending back to Imlil. Along the way, enjoy a lunch break before a relaxed drive back to Marrakech for hotel drop-off.
