Description

Meet your guide at the Malimbada Junction and take a short walk or drive to a family-owned spice garden. Be welcomed with a traditional village drink, such as fresh King Coconut straight from the tree or authentic Ceylon Cinnamon tea. Next, embark on a guided nature walk through the lush, working estate. See a diverse array of native trees and crops, including black pepper, jackfruit, banana plants, star fruit, mango, coconut, Ceylon olive, lime, lemon, Godapara, and Namnam. The environment is rich with wildlife, offering chances to spot wild peacocks, wild boars, and deer. Depending on the season, observe and interact with local villagers performing daily agricultural tasks like land clearing, fertilizing, or harvesting. The highlight of the tour takes place at the 'Wadiya' (peeling shed), which is authentically situated at a master peeler's family home right next to the cinnamon lands. Watch a demonstration of the intricate, multi-generational skill of peeling and rolling the highly prized Alba grade Ceylon cinnamon. Then, have the hands-on opportunity to try peeling and rolling the cinnamon yourself. Throughout the demonstration, enjoy authentic, seasonal Sri Lankan sweets and herbal refreshments. The tour concludes at the master peeler's home, where you have the option to purchase freshly harvested cinnamon and spices.
