Description
On the third weekend of July, Villasimius hosts the Festa della Madonna del Naufrago, a unique sea procession celebrating faith and tradition. The tour departs at 10:30 AM from Villasimius harbor towards the southern tip of Isola dei Cavoli.
Participants join a colorful flotilla of local boats to witness a spiritual moment: a prayer and the laying of a wreath on the seabed below a 3-meter-high pink granite statue, sculpted by Sardinian artist Pinuccio Sciola. The ceremony’s atmosphere is intensified by the sound of boat sirens across the sea.
After the procession, the tour moves to the crystal-clear waters of the Marine Protected Area, where guests can snorkel among schools of fish or relax on board.
