Description
This wine tourism tour will take you to the heart of the Maison de Champagne Louis Balincourt in Châlons-en-Champagne. Our multilingual and experienced live guide will introduce you to the fascinating history of the Crayères of Châlons-en-Champagne, whose formation dates back to the Cretaceous period (the age of the dinosaurs). With the quarry's human exploitation dating back nearly 2,000 years, you will discover its history up to the beginning of the 19th century, when champagne found an incomparable setting there for its long aging process.
As you tour our production and storage site, we will also show you the Champagne making process using historical production tools.
The experience will end with a tasting of Champagne Louis Balincourt (Cuvée Brut Séduction).
At the end of the tour, you can browse the 'Les Talentueux de la Champagne' shop, which offers around fifty small gems from Champagne, to continue the experience after the tour!
The Crayères Balincourt represent an exceptional heritage that is part of the Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
