Description
Step into the landscapes of the First World War on a scenic, story-led drive through Vimy Ridge—aboard Citronette, a vintage open-air Citroën Méhari chauffeured by your guide. Designed for travelers who want to see beyond the main viewpoint, this experience blends expert guidance, curated battlefield stops, and time to explore at your own pace. Begin at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial Visitors Centre, meet your driver-guide, and head to the Vimy Memorial for a guided visit of the monument and its meaning. Then continue across the preserved terrain of Vimy Memorial Park, pausing for photos among craters, shell holes, trenches, cemeteries, and key memorial sites—places many visitors never reach without local knowledge. From the ridge, travel through the countryside around La Targette, passing British and French cemeteries and locations tied to frontline history, including a site associated with the Christmas Truce. The route continues toward the heights of Mont-Saint-Éloi, with additional memorials along the way, before arriving at Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. At Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, take in France’s largest military cemetery and the Ring of Remembrance, honoring 580,000 fallen of all nationalities. After your guide’s overview, enjoy free time to explore the basilica, lantern tower, and memorial landscape independently. To help you follow the route and absorb what you’re seeing, you’ll receive a printed guide with clear explanations and key points of interest.Includes
