Description
The tour begins with hotel pick-up in a 4x4 pickup truck before heading to Morro de Areia, Boavista’s “mountain of sand” and a desert-like dune area. You will then try sandboarding, a popular new activity on the island.
Next, the journey continues through dunes and along the coast to Turtle Bay, where you can observe green turtles in their natural habitat. Unlike loggerhead turtles, green turtles feed locally and spawn elsewhere. Shortly after is Shark Bay, where you might see lemon sharks depending on sea conditions.
The tour then reaches Santa Monica Beach, a 12-kilometer stretch of white sand and clear water. Afterward, you visit Povoação Velha, Boavista’s first village, known for its agriculture and fishing traditions. Here you can sample local specialties, including the regional rum (grogue) and liquor (pontche), known for their cultural significance.
This tour balances nature, adrenaline, and local flavors in a relaxed pace.
