Fly Chamonix
Chamonix
Fly-Chamonix is a paragliding company based in the Chamonix valley and run by Sean Potts. Sean, who now holds the French 'Brevet' qualification to teach sports, is fully qualified to teach paragliding, speed riding or to take you on a thrilling tandem ride.
Paragliding (known as parapenting in French) is a popular aerial sport in Chamonix during both winter and summer seasons. In fact, if there's a lift open to take you up, you can fly back down, so it's a truly year round sport.
With Fly-Chamonix tandem flights, where you sit in a harness in front of the paragliding instructor, you have a choice of launch sites including Brevent, the Aiguille du Midi and Grands Montets. Prices start at 100€ for a tandem paraglide flight from Brevent and as for how long it'll last, well that kind of depends on the winds, but around 20 minutes is usual.
If you want to properly take up the sport of paragliding, Fly-Chamonix offers multi day teaching, which can be taken in a single block of days (ideal if you're in Chamonix on holiday) or over several sessions (perfect if you live here). You will learn all the techniques and about reading the wind and conditions, culminating in your carrying out your first solo flights.
Fly-Chamonix also offers teaching for those wanting to get into speed riding, which is basically skiing with a harness and a canopy (or wing) which means you can lift off from the snow and glide. It's a truly exhilarating sport and offers the thrill of skiing and flying combined.
Fly-Chamonix operates year round in the Chamonix valley offering tandem paragliding flights and teaching.
