Paragliding - Plan de L'Aiguille (Chamonix) Launch Site

ACCESS
Access is by the Aiguille du Midi cable car, which is located in the centre of Chamonix. Take the cable car to the mid-station, then walk 5 mins down below the cables to the launch site.This launch site is closed during July and August. It is also forbidden to overfly during this period.

SKILL LEVEL
Suitable for all levels, depending on conditions – experienced pilots only in thermal conditions.

ORIENTATION AND CONDITIONS
West (alternative launch NE dependant on snow conditions – can be very dangerous with uneven surface, big boulders). This site is suitable for afternoon or evening flight.
Altitude: 2233m. Vertical drop: 1233m. GPS: N 45° 54' 17" E 006° 52' 59"

CAUTIONS
Cables for cable car on both sides of the launch. In strong winds, excellent technique is required. Uneven, rocky surface – good boots are essential. The NE launch can be very dangerous without sufficient snow coverage.

LANDING SITE
Bois du Bouchet. The landing site is not visible from the launch.
