Description
Discover the Heart and Soul of La Palma
Join us for an unforgettable journey through the most captivating corners of the Isla Bonita, in the company of an expert local guide. This experience will take you from the most charming colonial streets to breathtaking volcanic landscapes that tell the story of a recent and powerful natural event.
Our meeting point will be in Santa Cruz de La Palma, right under the historic “Nitrato de Chile” sign, in the heart of the city, easy to find and just a short walk from the port. From here, our adventure begins.
We start in Santa Cruz de La Palma, the island’s lively capital. We will stroll through its perfectly preserved old town, where time seems to stand still. Admire colorful colonial houses, elegant wooden balconies, and cobblestone streets leading to squares full of history, culture, and local life. Your guide will share the secrets of the city’s architecture, monuments, and seafaring past.
From there, we head up to the Mirador de La Cumbrecita, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park. You’ll be surrounded by a natural amphitheater of cliffs, ancient forests, and endless views that will take your breath away. A perfect spot to connect with the island’s pure nature and feel its untouched energy.
Next, we travel to Tacande, the closest accessible point to the Tajogaite volcano, born during the 2021 eruption. We will drive along the new road built after the eruption, crossing areas forever changed by the force of nature. Along the way, you will witness the sheer power of the lava flow — vast fields of black rock, broken roads, and houses buried under tons of stone and ash. Your guide will explain how this event reshaped the island’s geography and the lives of its people.
The contrast between life and destruction is striking: green slopes meet the black scars of the volcano, and from certain viewpoints it feels as if you are standing on another planet.
We end our excursion in El Paso, the beating heart of the Palmeran community, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch or coffee in a warm, friendly atmosphere. A perfect moment to reflect on all you’ve seen and taste the island’s flavors before returning.
