Climbing - Vallorcine

Vallorcine is a really pretty village situated on the other side of the pass at the top of the valley, not far from the border to Switzerland. The crag here is not far from the Vallorcine train station, so you don’t need to take a car. There is also an excellent little bar/restaurant located next to the station for a great lunch on the terrace or a rewarding beer afterwards! Take away sandwiches are also available if you want to have a picnic.

To find the crag, cross the train tracks and follow the path (in the direction of Chamonix) across the meadow and into the woods. It is about 5mins walk fro the train station.
This crag is big and has a range of routes in different styles (difficulty from 4b – 6a), including some nice crack climbs. Use the metal ladders to get down rather than abseiling. Note that the chain at the top is the handrail! Do not use it for belaying.

This is an extremely popular area with climbing schools and the public so it can be busy, especially on Wednesdays and weekends.
