Chamonix Tunnel Du Mont Blanc
The easiest way to get to Italy from Chamonix and back is to take the Mont Blanc Tunnel. The tunnel is an astonishing 11.6 km long, and runs about 3 km beneath the Mont Blanc. The journey takes about 17 minutes, but waiting times can be high during peak season. A superb day out from Chamonix is to go skiing at Courmayeur (included on Mont Blanc Unlimited lift passes of two days or more). You can either drive to Courmayeur itself, or head up from Val Veny which is just two minutes' drive from the tunnel exit and links you directly to the main Courmayeur ski area.

Prices for a single or return journey are very high. If you think you will make use of it, buy an 'abonnement' which is valid for two years from the date of purchase. For cars a 10 x passage ticket currently costs 109,30€ and a 20 x passage tickets costs 153,00€.
