The Chamonix Mont Blanc Express is the train that runs from Le Fayet at the bottom of the Chamonix Valley right up through Servoz, Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentiere and through to Vallorcine, with onwards trains into Swizterland (Martigny). As well as offering great views along the while train line, if you have a Carte Gens de Pays, Carte Resident Secondaire or a Carte d'Hote (ask for it at your hotel of from your accommodation supplier) travel between Servoz and Vallorcine is free.

In winter, you can take your skis and boards on the train. For skiing in Les Houches, the nearest stop in the Pont St Marie (a request stop, so press the door buttons to alert the driver before nearing the station). For the Aiguille du Midi there is a stop at the top end of the Aiguille du Midi. For Flegere, get off the train at Les Praz and walk two minutes to the lift car park.

For Les Grands Montets get off at Argentire and follows signs for pedestrian access over the river to the lift car park. For Le Tour, you can get off the train at Montroc and walk up, but be warned it's a deceptively steep incline. You can also hop on a bus as there's a stop at the rail station. Stay on right until Vallorcine and you are just 100m away from the bubble lift up to Le Tour (Balme) ski area.

In summer, you are allowed on with bikes, but can be limited to five per train. All stops lead to some wonderful walking and hiking, so enjoy!
