Leave behind the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and embark on a refreshing full-day hike to Jamacho, one of the most rewarding short hiking destinations inside Nagarjun Forest Reserve.
Begin with a short scenic drive to Fulbari Gate, the entrance to the forest. From here, follow a well-defined trail that winds through dense woodlands of pine, oak, and rhododendron. The gradual ascent makes the hike suitable for travelers with moderate fitness, while the peaceful surroundings provide a perfect escape into nature.
As you hike deeper into the forest, enjoy the sounds of birds and keep an eye out for wildlife such as monkeys. The trail is less crowded compared to other hiking routes around Kathmandu, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility.
After approximately 3 to 3.5 hours of hiking, reach Jamacho Peak (2,128m), where you’ll find a small monastery adorned with prayer flags and a view tower offering stunning panoramic vistas. On clear days, enjoy breathtaking views over the Kathmandu Valley and distant Himalayan ranges, including Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal.
Take time to relax, enjoy your packed lunch, and soak in the peaceful spiritual atmosphere before descending back through the same scenic trail. After reaching the base, your driver will transfer you back to your hotel.
