La Chavanne

La Chavanne has had a makeover! Yes, it's still part of the Serac group who controls most of the mountain restaurants in the Chamonix ski areas, but La Chavanne seems to have gone all trendy on us!

Well, when we say trendy, we mean they've changed the signage, built a DJ outdoor desk bit and added some of those achingly trendy brightly coloured cube things and plastic sofas to the rows of deckchairs.

What this does mean though, is that there is now a cafe on the slopes of La Flegere that is a funky affair. Well-known DJs from the local Chamonix will be regularly spinning the hits in the snow, with the likes of Phil G and Stefan Lando lined up throughout the winter season.

As for the drinks and the food, it's the usual fayre with sarnies and hot dogs as well as a beer and vin chaud type menu going on.

One major plus point of La Chavanne is its position. Time it right and you could be lounging back in your deckchair gazing over at the amazing view of the mer de glace on the other side of the valley. Worth it alone.
