Description

Delve into the history and impact of the Khmer Rouge on this full-day tour. Although this period in Cambodian history was devastating, this tour seeks to take you on a journey and present you with a digestible way to learn about many different aspects of war and the recovery from it. Start your tour by being picked up by your guide in a minivan. Drive through town to the first location, the Wat Thmey Temple Killing Fields, and explore this devastating site. Like all killing fields and the prisons from the Khmer Rouge period, Wat Thmey is a heavy place filled with sadness but also very educational. After your time at the Killing Fields, head out to the Landmine Museum, established by a former child soldier. See thousands of decommissioned landmines and other weapons of war. Learn about the devastating impact of landmines and how you can help in ridding the world of these tragic remnants of wars. Then, continue to the War Museum. Explore the museum's unique collection of weaponry, which has been gathered and growing since 1999 from areas where fighting took place, like Anlong Veng, Siem Reap, and Odor Meangchey. As you wander through the museum's collection, you will learn about the different pieces and Cambodia's complex conflict history. After your museum visit, return to your hotel to reflect on your day and what you saw and learned during the tour.
