Description
The tour can be scheduled for two times, at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We will start outside the ADO bus station on 5th Avenue. You will recognize us by our badges and T-shirts with the Tortuga (Kuxtal) logo. After receiving reservations and presenting the tour in the Founders' Square, where we will share the history of the peninsula, the Mayan worldview, and stories, you will learn about the biodiversity of the region. Next, we will move on to La Tarraya, a restaurant with a rich history in the city since the 1950s. We will enjoy Mexican drinks and share dishes to savor the Caribbean seafood. We will walk down the street discovering the local architecture and visit Ah Cacao, a local fair trade establishment where you will learn about and taste 'Mayan Chocolate,' inspired by pre-Hispanic production, along with endemic products such as Chicze gum. Afterwards, we will take a walk along 5th Avenue, showcasing local commerce and giving suggestions for places to enjoy the city's nightlife. Then we will move to 10th Avenue and 6th Street to visit the municipal market and taste Yucatecan snacks, followed by Plaza 28 de Julio, a local night market full of flavors, colors, and textures. Visitors can find honey from the Yucatan Peninsula, textiles with Mayan embroidery, handicrafts from cooperatives, and delicious Mexican street food. We will end the tour inside City Hall, in front of the Xaman Há mural, with the presentation of a symbolic souvenir of the places visited, local products, the Kuxtal Xíimbal magazine for additional information, and our thanks.Includes
