Description

After picking you up at your hotel in the Historic Center at 9:00 a.m., we will start our guided tour of the White City of Arequipa. During the tour, we will discover the origin of this nickname while admiring its buildings built with volcanic stone and ashlar, which evoke the typical architecture of Andalusian villages. We will visit the Plaza de Armas to contemplate the majestic Cathedral of Arequipa and the Church and Cloisters of the Society of Jesus. We will also stop at the old dairy farms of Bronce and Cabezona, sites that were important commercial centers where bartering was practiced as a method of exchange. Our last stop will be the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena, a walled fortress that was used as a convent for cloistered nuns. During the guided tour of the convent, we will learn about some of the legends surrounding this place, walk through its magnificent cloisters and gardens, and appreciate its valuable art collection. The tour will conclude back at your hotel or at any other point in downtown Arequipa of your choice, around 1:00 pm.
